IGB Enrichment Program

The IGB (I Gotcha Back) Enrichment Program is a 12-week curriculum designed to empower students through four core pillars: financial literacy, communication, emotional wellness, and critical thinking. Funded by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, this program is currently being implemented through partnerships with the City of Gainesville, AIM (Aces in Motion), The Girls Place, and Willie Mae Stokes Community Center. The program utilizes a unique incentive system called IGB Bucks, where students earn currency through participation, completion of activities, and demonstration of positive behaviors.
Each 50-minute weekly session combines focused instruction with hands-on activities, allowing students to practice and reinforce essential life skills. The program begins with a pre-assessment to establish baseline knowledge and concludes with a post-assessment to measure growth. Throughout the program, students participate in the IGB Store, which opens three times (weeks 4, 8, and 12). This allows them to practice financial decision-making with their earned IGB Bucks.
The curriculum is strategically designed to build upon itself, starting with fundamental concepts and progressing to more complex applications. Students develop practical skills in managing money, effective communication across various channels, understanding and managing emotions, and critically evaluating information. By integrating real-world scenarios and active learning experiences, the program ensures that students can apply these skills daily.
